Welcome to the Legislation Committee section of our website.. This section is being designed to inform the membership with what is going on at the capitol. With all the activities that happed over the last year it was difficult to keep informed. I will try my best to keep the members informed with the activities going on that could require action from Local 1. If you have suggestions on what you would like seen on this page please email me.

Local 1 will always extends an open hand to those who are paying dues that have not yet signed a membership card. After all the paying members were entered into the new system it was found there are many state employees paying fair shares of dues but not active members. If you think you maybe one of these members please contact us immediately to sign your card.

Many of you have noticed a slight increase in the dues being deducted from your paycheck. Please know Local 1's increase was minor, most of the increase came from the International office. For more information about the amount of dues visit www.afscme.org.

This section will be an informational page about current memberships. If a member has a change in work status, address, department, etc. this will be the page to submit the information to the committee. A form will be developed soon that can be filled out online and submitted making it as easy as possible to forward any change of information. If you have ideas or suggestions please email wseu-local1@gmail.com.

Below are Know you Contract" pieces that Local 1 has published as well as the educational pieces presented at the general membership meetings. These items may be posted on your bulletin board at your discretion.

If you are interested in steward training, please visit Council 24's Stewards In Action page for dates and times of training.

Review of this information is NOT considered attendance of steward training. This is informational only. You must request and be approved (from the president) attend, signup, participate and present summary at a membership meeting for steward training reimbursement. Remember ALL training must be requested and approved in order to receive reimbursement (you do not have to request to be reimbursed just to attend training). The request should be presented in email format and you should be sure you have a reply for documentation. If attendance to an online session was complete it is requested that a report be presented at a membership meeting to be eligible for steward training reimbursement.
